Beer referendum

Beer referendum was organized at 4th Giant mountains´ beerfest in 2001 for the first time as a survey of popularity and also was supposed to reveal service quality of breweries for vistors of Giant mountains´ beerfest. There are no complete records from the first year of referendum but the tradition of personal rating of breweries was started. There was a big problem with finding a reliable and fast method of results interpretation. Finally measuring of column height made from voting tickets put by visitors to boxes at brewery stalls was found the optimal method. This measuring is done by jury consisting of three members chosen from promoting team. The column height is measured by slide gauge. Results are given in mm – see results of 6th year. Brewery with the highest column becomes the winner. The most successful brewery is announced the champion for actual year before the main program and gets a statue or a plastic of Krakonoš – the master of our mountains.

The popular Svijany brewery became the champion again after one year brake the popular Svijany brewery became the champion. Great position of this year´s newbie Černá Hora brewery, which is not much represented in Giant mountains, is a big surprise. Fourth position of another newbie, brewery Měšťanský pivovar Polička, proves that visitors of Giant mountains´ Beerfest like experiments and new beers testing.
